Biography
Eric Stahlberg is director of Strategic and Data Science Initiatives at Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research in the Biomedical Informatics and Data Science Directorate. Working closely with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology (CBIIT), Dr. Stahlberg spearheads collaborative efforts between the National Cancer Institute and the US Department of Energy in the Joint Design for Advanced Computing Solutions for Cancer (JDACS4C), the CANcer Distributed Learning Environment (CANDLE), and Accelerating Therapeutics for Opportunities in Medicine (ATOM) while identifying new opportunities to accelerate cancer research employing computational approaches. Working with the NCI, he also provides strategic leadership in HPC and exploratory computing. Prior to joining Frederick National Laboratory, he has worked in industry advancing applications of HPC technologies, and in academia advancing accelerated computing, applications in bioinformatics, developing the future workforce in health information, and directing an innovative undergraduate computational science program.
