Joseph Smidt

Biography
Joseph Smidt has twelve years experience in cosmology and astrophysics performing both theoretical simulations and data analysis. He has over 50 publications across the top physics journals including both Nature and Science. He has published constraints on primordial non-Gaussianity and made the first direct detection of gravitational lensing in the CMB. Using fluctuations the in near-infrared background light, he has constrained constrained the inter-halo light between galaxies, and put limits on the amplitude of high-redshift populations. Using massively parallel simulations, he has published on radiative feedback of Pop-III stars, calculated lightcurves for supernova blasts is currently modeling high-redshift quasars, HII regions and galaxy dynamics. Most recently he has led the team as PI at Los Alamos National Laboratory simulating how water and other complex molecules first formed in the universe.
