SUMMARY:A Renaissance for Domain-Specific Languages, Compilers and Code Ge
nerators for HPC and Big Data
DESCRIPTION:Students@SC Event\nStudent Program\n\nA Renaissance for Domain
-Specific Languages, Compilers and Code Generators for HPC and Big Data\n\
nHall\n\nToday’s HPC architectures are diverse and complex. Achieving hig
h performance often requires low-level, architecture-specific code that is
difficult to derive and does not port across architectures. It seems tha
t writing such code has reached a pain threshold for programmers, and this
has motivated a true Renaissance in the role of programming system techno
logy (languages, compilers and code generators) for mapping high-level cod
 e specifications to high-performance, architecture-specific implementation
 s. This talk will highlight the role programming system technology in ach
ieving performance portability from high-level code specifications.
