SUMMARY:Opportunities for Extreme Heterogeneity in High Performance Archit
 ectures
DESCRIPTION:Students@SC Event\nStudent Program\n\nOpportunities for Extrem
e Heterogeneity in High Performance Architectures\n\nGokhale\n\nHPC archit
ectures now provide special-purpose accelerated processing units to augmen
t general purpose compute cores. In the future it is expected that archite
ctural diversity will greatly increase, with heterogeneous components appe
aring at many levels of granularity. In this talk, I will discuss opportun
ities for including heterogeneous elements in the CPU, memory, and interco
nnect, ultimately resulting in HPC systems as diverse in in architectural
components as the modern cell phone.
