SUMMARY:A Deferred Correction Coupling Strategy for Cosmological Simulati
 ons
DESCRIPTION:Workshop\nDiversity, Education, Hot Topics, Workshop Reg Pass\
n\nA Deferred Correction Coupling Strategy for Cosmological Simulations\n
\nSexton\n\nWe present a strategy for coupling the equations of baryonic g
as dynamics to those for radiative heating and cooling in the context of N
yx, an N-body + gas dynamics code for large-scale cosmological simulations
. The radiative and advective processes have differing time scales. To avo
id Strang splitting errors, we couple the processes with a simplified spec
tral deferred correction strategy. Preliminary results indicate that the i
mproved coupling strategy improves stability and reduces the cost of integ
rating the heating and cooling terms for our Lyman-alpha forest test case.
